John Isaacs probes contemporary experience with a mixture of fiendishness romanticism and humor. He is unable to stop himself from being saturated by an infinitely multiplying mass of images and information. Working in sculpture, video, installation, photographs and painting, Isaacs juxtaposes unlikely phenomena of gothic spectacle, the corporeal, the romantic and the everyday. His outwardly erratic mixture of artworks serve to represent the varied perspectives of the world around us, or as Isaacs puts it "…the places we can get lost and the utopias we dream of. The wrong turns we take, directed by ego or fear, and ultimately the way we learn to forget the beauty of the world we live in."John Isaacs was born in Lancaster, England, in 1968 and currently lives and works in Berlin. He has exhibited extensively in galleries and museums worldwide.
