David Sitek: R.I.P Stay Gold

David Sitek, o produtor maravilha e elemento maravilha dos maravilhosos TV on the Radio, resolveu fechar as portas do estúdio Stay Gold ,por ele aberto em Brooklyn em Abril de 2005. Em apenas 4 anos passaram por lá, para gravar, gigantes como os TV on the Radio, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Grizzly Bear, Blonde Redhead, Saul Williams, Massive Attack, the Knife, Foals, Architecture in Helsinki, e até mesmo David Bowie, podendo então classificar-se o local como "sagrado".
Sitek explica:
"I wanted to end on a good and reasonably priced note,"
"Our rent tripled in a year's time. The landlord was planning on knocking the building down to clear the lot for a skyscraper, but the economy prevented that from happening. They offered to extend the lease for another year but, by that point, I had made peace with the idea of closing. I far exceeded my expectations in that building and I feel like it's time to do something different."
"There are more strollers, cops on every corner, and about 16 more Thai restaurants now," "The price of Williamsburg really pushed out a lot of talented people."
"The tracking room in that place is pretty spectacular,"so we're sampling it with test tones to make a reverb based on it."
"To whoever left the Speak & Spells, they're still here. And Tunde, I think I found your sunglasses.":)
