Os Akron/Family, que iniciaram actividade em 2002 sendo experts na arte de juntar o folk ao rock de forma inspirada, lançaram, ou melhor, foram lançados por Michael Gira (fundador dos Swans, e líder dos maravilhosos The Angels of Light) na sua editora Young God Records, e editaram uma obra-prima homónima em 2005...mas preparam-se para deixar a cabana mãe e começar uma nova fase sob o selo da Dead Oceans (Secretly Canadian+Jagjaguwar).
Com nova casa,e menos um membro (risquem da foto Ryan Vanderhoof ), os Akron/Family preparam-se para lançar, em Abril de 2009, o sucessor de Love Is Simple, de 2007.
Segundo a banda, em declarações à revista Billboard, o novo Lp "is inspired by many different directions." "I wouldn't say out of the box we sound like a whole new band, but there's a couple of extreme elements on this record. There's one track that emphasizes our fondness for extreme noise and painful, almost guttural sounds. We've alluded to these things, but I think there are a few moments that are mashing all those sounds together, into hopefully, one seven-minute prog masterpiece."
