Patrick Wolf, o prodígio/wonderboy britânico (com três gemas já lançadas), prepara-se para lançar não um, mas dois trabalhos, em registo duplo, algures em Fevereiro de 2009.A primeira parte do mesmo, intitulada de Battle, é escrito e trabalhado na companhia do terrorista sónico Alex Empire, dos Atari Teenage Riot, e explora a depressão que Wolf sofreu em tour no passado recente, enquanto a segunda metade reflecte a descoberta, ou redescoberta, do amor.
Wolf, em reclarações ao NME:
“was having to play songs about a past relationship, I’d been through three relationship changes, I was going insane.”
“I began attacking politics and the people around me. It’s an aggressive noise-punk record.”
“Alec helped me channel that aggression into something creative”. “I’d write a short story then he’d turn it into a track, then we recorded them in Berlin”. And on the ‘light’ side of the double-album, “I’ve found my true love, who has practically saved my life. That’s in contrast to the inspiration for Battle, which was me thinking “Will I ever be in love again or will I be a bachelor for the rest of my life?”
