Kleerup new Ep

O sueco Andreas Kleerup, que foi louvado pelos auscultadores de muita gente (incluindo os meus) em 2008, pelo seu homónimo de estreia, e antes da re-edição deste a 4 de Maio(com novo material a juntar ao do primeiro), vai lançar um novo EP intitulado Hella Holla, que tem uma cover art tão evitável que nem ousei em emoldurá-la por aqui.

Hella Holla é composto apenas por 4 faixas, mas o suficiente para manter-nos (pelo menos a mim) extasiados.

Os americanos Celebration, que em 2007 lançaram uma pequena pérola (o seu segundo Lp) de nome The Modern Tribe sob os dotes do mago Dave Sitek, acabam de dar um Kick in The Ass à sua editora, a prestigiada 4AD, e estão a oferecer a sua música de forma grátis, sem portes de envio e sem o gajo chato dos CTT´s a tocar à campaínha.

"We as Celebration, have felt the continual growth of web culture's need for barrier-free exchange. We also feel that the traditional methods of releasing music have put too much distance between us...Our plan and experiment is to post new songs monthly, as we create and record them. Under the creative commons attribution non-commercial share alike license, all of our new music will be free to download on our new website. When we have enough music for an album, we will release it on vinyl for those who want to have something to hold. As artists we can only stand for our music, our art, our creation. So here it is--laid bare. "

Malcolm Middleton: 'Waxing Gibbous'

É impossível (acho) não gostar de Malcolm Middleton, que já jorrava feitiço quando liderava os extintos, mas para sempre sublimes, Arab Strap, e com o triste término da sua banda o escocês manteve-se à tona, brilhantemente, em nome próprio e apenas na companhia dos seus instrumentos e respectiva melancolia.

Middleton tem praticamente pronto o seu quinto Lp, o seguidor de A Brighter Beat de 2006, que tem como título 'Waxing Gibbous', e que tem exposição a 1 de Junho via Full Time Hobby.

Eis as devidas informações em nome próprio:

"How do I feel about Waxing Gibbous? I don't know, but I like it more now than I did 2 weeks ago. Maybe it's my age, or cynicism. Maybe I'm sick of the sound of my own voice and realise that I've been stretching what little it is that I have to say over the course of too many years. Or maybe I'm just pissed off that I don't fit in anywhere. The leftfield doesn't want me because I'm too normal and I use choruses. The mainstream didn't want me and still resents me for trying to ruin Christmas. Could I maybe try to sound more like James Blunt or James Morrison? Actually no, I doubt I could even try. Could I pass myself off more seriously, like Will Oldham or Nick Cave? No, I don't have enough character.

"I keep on going. This is a very personal album in that it does contain all the crap little lines I've jotted down in my wee book over the past 2 years or so, which are then chiselled and connived into being songs. I don't feel like I've given that much away though, this album doesn't make me cringe as much as previous attempts. Although I suppose there are still a few lines that I try to ignore, in the hope that no one will be able to see the real meaning hidden behind their blatant statementing.

"Being a singer/writer/musician I'm not really prone to histrionics or ego-antics, so I can thus say with no little weight that this'll be my last solo album for a few years. I'm not quitting, I just think that Malcolm Middleton has said enough for the time being. I'd like to try something new, something instrumental, someone new, something different. Who knows, but That all seems more exciting than This these days."
